Tips¶
Adaptive high beam assist. Settings -> Vehicle -> Displays and Lighting -> High Beam Assist. Select on “Adaptive”.
Set up storage for Gear Guard . The maximum support disk is 2T and the required minimum disk is 128G. I personally recommended using 1T or 2T disks.
Enhanced Highway Assist . It only works on pre-mapped highways.
Camping model which supports auto leveling .
Rivian comes with a torch / flashlight which is integrated into the driver’s side door.
Garage door pairing.
Rivian has a built-in navigation system (which is based on Google Map). However, it is often more convenient to explore locations and routes on your phone. Rivian allows any driver on a Rivian car to directly share Google Map from their phone to the Rivian app to open the route using the built-in navigation system.
Memorizing AC vent positions.
Disable unlocking at home. See Proximity Locking on Rivian for discussion.
Rivian supports auto kneeling which makes it convenient for children and small people to hop on/off the car. However, the behavior of auto kneeling is not consistently especially when it’s interruptted by opening door when parked. I’d suggest you disable (default) this feature.
Rivian Connect+. Once subscribed, you can use its WiFi hotspot.
Rivian R1S does not support adjusting the height of the liftgate currently. However, there are walkaround as discussed in Rivian R1S Liftgate Height Adjustment Possible? .
Roadside lighting
Batteries¶
Knowing about them, it’s better to get a Rivian with Large+ instead of a vanilla Large pack battery.
Large+ battery has the option code BAT-LP01.

The software-capped Max battery pack (or Large+) is listed as BAT-LP01 internally, whereas the genuine Large pack is BAT-B01. The default option lists both types of battery packs in a string that looks like “?BAT=BAT-B01%2CBAT-LP01” at the end of the R1 Shop URL. If you want to list only Large+ vehicles and not Large types, you should use the string “?BAT=BAT-LP01” at the end of the URL.
